Pescanova SA, the Spain-based seafood giant, was founded in 1960 and is primarily engaged in the fishing industry through its subsidiaries. With more than 120 fishing boats and 150,000 tons of fish products sold into the global market every year, Pescanova is one of the largest seafood companies in the world.
Pescanova SA is a parent of Grupo Pescanova, a group which comprises a number of controlled entities with operations established worldwide, and whose principal activities include production, processing and distribution of fish products. More specifically, the Company is involved in the farming, capturing, cleaning, cutting, freezing, processing and packaging onboard factory-ships, as well as the transport, distribution and marketing of a variety of fish products. Pescanova has build up a highly vertically integrated business and is the leading provider of fresh and frozen fish products in Europe, Japan and the United States.
The Company’s activities are structured in three business areas: Wild Catch, Farmed Fish and Food Products. In the wild catch division, fish and shellfish are processed and frozen immediately after being caught. Within the farmed fish area, the company engages in aquaculture operations and in the development of technology for fishing activities while in the Food Products, it delivers deep-frozen fish and shellfish products.
One of the strategic pillars of Pescanova’s industrial activity is to ‘regulate oceans’ and ensure the maximum preservation of the natural sea-farming wealth. This philosophy of conservation and rationalization of the fishing activity, allows the company to view with a high degree of optimism the future of fishing resources.
Tryfon Tseriotis and Pescanova have been business partners for the Cypriot market since 2011.
